Robert Paul Nagy Jr. a devoted father, loving partner, cherished friend and an unforgettable soul, departed this world on September 18, 2024, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories with all who had the privilege to know him. Born on November 30, 1969, in California, Bobby's vibrant spirit was evident from an early age. He was not only a devoted son to his beloved parents, Bob and Alice, but a remarkable example of devotion and love, especially towards his mother, who he cared for with unwavering dedication until his last day.
A man of many talents, Bobby navigated through life with a formidable work ethic that he held dear to his heart. His motto, “If you're not early, you're late,” defined his approach to his role as a heavy equipment operator at Cal Portland, where he mastered the intricacies of his work. Known affectionately as Mr. Fix-it, he was an accomplished welder and a mechanical virtuoso, always reliable whenever assistance was needed.
It was his personal life that truly defined Bobby's essence. As a proud father, he lovingly embraced his role to his children, Cody and Payton. Bobby radiated love and warmth towards his children. He was not just their dad, but their guiding light, nurturing them with kindness, wisdom, and endless support. His heart expanded to embrace Debra’s children Nicholas, Peyton Michael and Lauren, as if they were his own, showcasing his immense capacity for love. For over 12 years, he shared a profound partnership with Debra Olson, who fell head over heels in love with this remarkable man. Their bond was one of mutual admiration, filled with shared moments that included star gazing , as well as many unforgettable adventures, such as a joint birthday celebration at a Pittsburgh Steeler game. Together they formed an unbreakable bond, creating a loving and blended family filled with warmth. They were each other’s greatest treasures, united by an extraordinary connection that resonates still.
Bobby was blessed with the gift of family, being the youngest brother to three sisters: Karen, Alice, and Kathy. Joyous outings waterskiing with Aunt Mary, Uncle Charlie and his cousins Charlie and Mike . Boating on the lake with his children, Debra , his nephews Ryan and Kevin. He enjoyed spending time visiting Karen and Paul in Laughlin, where he tried his luck at the slots and blackjack tables alongside his son Cody, were truly moments of happiness that will be fondly remembered. He was a loving uncle, cousin, true friend and good neighbor to everyone. Bobby was the glue that held connections tight!
Bobby's zest for life was unmatched. An aficionado of music, he found solace and joy in playing guitar, an art he passionately practiced with his cousin Charlie, honing their luthier skills and hosting spirited jam sessions in the garage. With a collection of guitars that could make any musician envious, Bobby transformed joy into song, often accompanied by his friends, especially his best friend Ted Davis at the keyboard. His love for music extended to his fond trips to concerts, especially the electrifying Social Distortion shows, where he reveled in the ambiance of lively tunes amid the arms of his cherished life partner Debra. His love for baseball and loyalty to the LA Dodgers brought excitement to his life. Bobby went to many games with Cody, Debra and Ted. He also enjoyed fantasy baseball and video gaming with Ted.
So personable and friendly he could talk to a stranger. Bobby even charmed himself into a new job out at the Katherine’s Landing Marina, his dream come true! And let’s not forget about Elvis, His little shadow and loyal companion puppy, whose blue eyes mirrored Bobby's own—a reflection of their inseparable bond.
As we gather to honor Bobby's memory, let us celebrate a life lived with passion, integrity, and love. His legacy will endure in the hearts of Cody and Payton, the laughter of friends, and the memories shared with family.
A memorial service will be held on October 15, 2024, 11:00am- 2:00pm at Fontana Mortuary in Fontana, CA, where all who knew and loved him are invited to pay their respects to a truly remarkable man. As we remember Bobby, may we find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in each of us.
